   Health and Social Care Statistics

ONS collect these statistics from registrations and surveys. This includes life expectancy and the impact of factors such as occupation, illness and drug misuse. Data is split by causes of death, child health, conditions and diseases, disability, drug use, alcohol and smoking, health care system, health and life expectancies, health and well-being and mental health. Local statistics are also linked.

   Public Health Statistics

Public Health England collects and publishes statistics on public health topics including health protection and health improvement. Health profiles, health protection, immunisation and health improvement statistics are availiable via Public Health England or the Office for National Statistics.

   Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)

PROMs measures health gain in patients undergoing hip replacement, knee replacement, varicose vein and groin hernia surgery in England, based on responses to questionnaires before and after surgery. This provides an indication of the outcomes or quality of care delivered to NHS patients and has been collected by all providers of NHS-funded care.


   Public Health Indicators

A collection of public health popuation profiles with local, regional and national benchmarks. There are a rich variety of indicators across a range of health and wellbeing themes that has been designed to support JSNA and commissioning to improve health and wellbeing, and reduce inequalities.

   Patient Safety Incident Reports

Formerly the National Patient Safety Agency. Data shows patient safety incident statistics for trusts in England and Wales; useful for benchmarking against peer groups for indication of where to look deeper.

The central hub for tariff information including proposal documents for upcoming years, useful for planning and tariff management.

Outcomes at CCG level to help inform priority setting and drive local improvement.

   NHS Comparators

Benchmarking and comparing activity and costs on a local, regional and national level for commissioners and providers. Provides an indicative sense of where to look deeper.

   Secondary Uses Service (SUS)

Data can be patient identifiable or anonymised or as required for the user's needs and can be useful for benchmarking, consumption mapping and assessing cost base.
